Networking with leading entrepreneurs, raising money for charity, a few drinks, and ping pong. What’s not to love?

Uberflip has announced the dates for their fourth annual Startupong, an event that routinely draws out some of the Canadian tech industry’s leading players to chat about the industry, share a few drinks, come together for charity, and of course, play some ping pong. This year’s edition is happening on April 25 at SPiN in Toronto.

The event will draw over 800 participants from Toronto’s tech startup community, all in the name of gathering $50,000 to benefit the SickKids Foundation. SickKids is in the middle of a massive fundraising push to build a new children’s hospital in Toronto and is looking to raise $25 million from the city’s tech luminaries.

“We’re proud of what Startupong has become and the impact that it’s had in connecting the tech startup community here in Toronto,” said Yoav Schwartz, Uberflip’s co-founder and CEO. “As our company continues to grow, we recognize that we have a responsibility to our community and we are committed to giving back.”

Startupong first launched in 2014 and has doubled in size ever since, bringing together hundreds of attendees from local startups like Wealthsimple, Shopify and League. Sensibill took home the win last year.

“At Uberflip, our company’s core values have guided us to give back to our communities, including a commitment to donate one per cent of annual revenue growth to charities,” said Randy Frisch, Uberflip’s co-founder and CMO. “Building off of these values, we’re excited to donate all proceeds from Startupong to the SickKids Foundation as we’ve done in the past and commit to doing so in the future.”

Right now, Uberflip is looking for some corporate sponsors to help reach the goal of $50,000. Participants in the tournament can register their teams starting on March 26, and general admission tickets are free of charge.
