Salesforce Dreampitch Competition Heads to Toronto in May

One of the biggest tech companies in the world is bringing their pitch competition to Toronto.

Salesforce has announced that their Dreampitch series will come to Toronto as part of the Salesforce World Tour, hitting the city on May 3 of this year. The winner of the pitch competition will take home $100,000 USD from Salesforce Ventures.

“At Salesforce Ventures, our goal is to build the largest ecosystem of enterprise cloud companies and deliver the next generation of technology to our customers,” said Matt Garratt, managing partner at Salesforce Ventures. “We invest in companies with talented management teams, innovative products, large market opportunities and strong company visions. There’s a great track record for start-ups here as well as a growing start-up ecosystem. We are excited to see them showcased at Dreampitch and ultimately, partner with them to deliver solutions that drive customer success.

The judges for the event include some of Toronto’s most well-known tech luminaries, including Kirstine Stewart, the president and CRO of TribalScale; Kristina Shen, a partner at Bessemer Venture Partners; Michael Litt, the co-Founder and CEO of Vidyard; and Candice Faktor, the founder of Faktory Ventures. It’s almost a prize in itself to personally introduce and form a networking relationship with the judges themselves.

Three companies will be selected as finalists to pitch. They will receive travel, accommodation and two passes to the Salesforce World Tour, as well as the shot at the $100,000.

In order to qualify as a competitor, companies must have a tech stack that is built on or integrates with the Salesforce platform, be based in Canada, have less than $5 million in funding, and make more than $100,000 a year in revenue.

Loop & Tie won the second annual Dreampitch competition last year, held in the U.S. They took home $250,000 for their corporate gifting platform. The Canadian Innovation Awards Entrepreneur of the Year, Shahrzad Rafati, was a judge for that competition.

“Salesforce has been a dream partner,” said Loop & Tie CEO Sara Rodell after the win. “There’s so much synergy between the relationship-building support, which both of our companies facilitate.”

The Canadian competition itself is sponsored by Salesforce Ventures as well as the company’s AppExchange, and it is powered by the RECESS platform.
