The 20 Most Innovative Tech Companies in Canada

The Canadian Innovation Exchange announced today the top 20 most innovative companies in Canada selected for the program’s annual roster.

Crossing industries from finance to health to education, the technology companies that made the cut for this year’s CIX Top 20 Program were picked by a selection committee of tech experts and investors from across the country.

The top ranked innovative companies were chosen based on a range of criteria, including their product or service offering, depth of management, market opportunity and business model.

Here’s the 2017 CIX Top 20, in alphabetical order:

  • Aspect Biosystems, Vancouver
  • Automat, Montreal

This year, CIX said they had a record number of applications for the top 20 program and noted that many were early-stage companies with less than $100,000 in revenue.

“It is exciting to see so many young tech companies with such great potential to contribute to Canada’s success as a global innovation leader,” said Lauren Linton, executive director of CIX. ‘These businesses join an elite list of hot Canadian tech companies that have made up the CIX Top 20 over the past decade.”

Each CEO from the CIX Top 20 will now present at CIX’s technology conference on Oct 17 and 18 where they’ll share their company story and innovative solution.

Past CIX Top 20 alumni include Breather, Figure 1, League, Nuology, Thalmic Labs, Vidyard, Wattpad and Wealthsimple.
