Watch Out, Netflix: Amazon Taking Prime Video Global

Amazon is taking Prime Video worldwide. The video streaming service, a direct challenger to Netflix, is currently available in only a select few countries.

Next month, Prime Video will be available globally.

“In December, the show will premiere in 200 countries and territories around the world, exclusively on Amazon,” the company announced on a blog post about the launch of “The Grand Tour,” a reality show featuring former “Top Gear” stars.

Prime Video is a component of Amazon Prime, a annual subscription premium service that includes unlimited free two-day shipping. Amazon has plans to offer Prime separately though.

Netflix, after its latest international expansion in January, is already available worldwide. However, Netflix’s content library varies widely country-to-country due to expensive licensing deals. Prime Video is expected to suffer the same fate.
