Nintendo Falls 13% after McDonald’s, Pokémon Go Controversy

Nintendo has dropped 13% on the TSE today due to the  delay of the Pokemon Go Japanese release.

Pokemon Go maker Niantic was set to release Pokemon Go in Japan on Wednesday but delayed following an email leak detailing a sponsorship deal with McDonalds. Screenshots of the emails detailing the deal were released on Japanese forums including Imgur and 2Ch hours before the scheduled release.

TechCrunch reported the delay was originally intended to be only a few hours however an unconfirmed source stated this caused enough hype around the game that decision-makers have postponed release until a date that is currently unconfirmed. The announcement of the new date could come as early as Thursday.
