Volley has emerged from private beta with $500,000 in seed funding.

The funding round was financed by Boris Wertz’s Version One Ventures.

The Toronto-based startup “empowers you to get advice and feedback from real people who have the skills and experience to help with a problem you’re facing.” Founded in 2014 by David Hariri, Brendan Lynch, and Mike Murchison, Volley is a social media network where anyone can sign up and post requests for help with specific challenges to receive advice and feedback from real people with relevant knowledge and experience.

So far Volley has been targeting developers, designers and entrepreneurs but says it wants to expand to new categories.

“We believe the future of getting help online will be far more personal and human than most people are accustomed to today,” said Mike Murchison, co-founder of Volley. “Everyone will be able to benefit from our collective knowledge and experience to get help with challenges big and small.”

“Not only are we investors, but we’re also avid users of Volley,” said Wertz.
